I founded Traumantic Software in Sherman Oaks, California in 1989 as a consulting company supporting individual and networked PCs.
I started focusing on photography in the mid-1990s after people started commenting on several of my images. Over the next 10 years I continued to improve and gathered better gear and started to shoot for fun.
I relaunched as Traumantic Studios in January of 2006 focused on photography.
In 2020 my world changed like everyone else and photography stopped mattering to me.
RENEWAL AND NEW PROJECTSIt's taken over 5 years, but I am back. My passion for photography has returned, but I needed to have a new focus.
In 2026 I am launching Traumantic Magazine in a small digital 'zine format. I will be focusing on creative projects of my own design and moving away from the more general types of photography I have done in the past. I want to focus on higher quality, focused projects.
ARCHIVESThe archives section you are in now, is for my past. Old projects, pictures completed, incomplete and just here because I like them. I post BLOG entries sometimes too.
I hope you will enjoy looking through the old stuff some time. It's my history. It's how I learned. The successes and the failures. It made me better, and I continue to learn.
When you're done checking out this area, head over to the 'zine page and check out the new project.
ABOUT OUR NAMEWhen my son was 5 he was watching the opening scene of Star Wars when Princess Leia's ship is being chased by the giant Star Destroyer. Afterwards, he rushed out to the living room to tell my wife and I about it.

In his excitement to describe what he saw as either 'tremendous' or 'gigantic', those words were squashed together and the word 'traumantic' popped out. I think it is pretty cool to have your company name be inspired by Star Wars.
It was silly at the time, but it stuck with me. When I went to start my own company a year or two later, Traumantic was the perfect fit.
