Dragonflies, Frogs And Plants

While visiting family in Wheat Ridge, CO, I discovered this great little pond full of lily pads, frogs and dragonflies.

I didn't have a flash with me, and it probably wouldn't have helped anyway. I also didn't have a tripod, so I was going to shoot handheld too. I really wanted to try to freeze the wings if I got any motion shots, so I shot these images at 1/8000th of a second. I was using my 70-200 f4 lens on my Canon 5D Mark II. My ISO was at 640 and I was at f/4.0.

They are a few that are not focused properly, but overall these are some of the coolest shots I have ever captured of dragonflies. I have never been able to capture this kind of movement from these creatures. I was truly excited when I saw the final images. I hope you will enjoy them too.
