Dancing Girl With Rebecca Mataya

I get ideas. I see images in my head, or I see images I want to recreate but with my own twist. Sometimes things just inspire me to try something.

In this case, I had found an image of a teenaged dancing girl that it is apparently from the late 1800s or early 1900s and somewhere in eastern Europe. I wanted to reacreate the look.

The obvious choice for this shot was my favorite model, Rebecca Mataya. We spent a couple months discussing it and working on collecting jewelry that fit the part. Rebecca finally hit the right combo and we set a date to shoot.

In hindsight, I didn't get what I wanted. I wanted a more iconic shot to match the mood of the original image. I didn't get it.

I could have been more creative with the lighting, with how I shot it, and even with the costume, but we did it on a shoestring budget. Woulda, coulda, shoulda. I will try it again at some point in time.

I did get a series of great images of Rebecca in a really cool costume. She just has a way with pulling a character together, and this is one of my favorites. So it wasn't a complete dissapointment.
