Prior to this shoot I have two experiences with shooting where nudity was involved. The first was a fashion shoot where it was entirely implied nudity. I wasn't ready for it, but worked my way through it. It wasn't exciting or sexual, it was terrifying and stressful.
The second time was a planned shoot with Emma Ridley where we nearly didn't shoot the nude image she wanted until she had a last minute change of heart and then we powered through it. I had also dealt with a little bit of implied nuidty in two other smaller shoots, but I had never worked with a real nude model until this date.
My good friend Seth Grenald was friends with Playboy Cover Model Titania Lyn. He arranged for a shoot in my home studio.
Titania is one of the nicest people I know. Down home, friendly, and very knowledgable about photography and modeling. She gave us both a lot of good input during the shoot and I learned a lot about how to communicate with someone who is posing in that manner. I also learned to be a lot more comfortable with it.
A lot of people think these shoots are sexy and hot and they could not be further from the truth. These shoots are very clinical and methodical. Nothing sexual about the process, only the final image if you do it right.
I had several opportunities to shoot with Titania and I credit her with a lot of learning in a very short time that helped me get better at what I do.
